- Identifies the common difference of 4
- States a general rule: uₙ = 4n − 1
- Verifies the rule with another term, e.g. n = 5 gives 19
Model answer
- 1Each term goes up by 4, so the rule starts with 4n.
- 2When n = 1, 4n = 4 — but the first term is 3, so subtract 1.
